Privacy Policy

BeatFocus was designed around a simple idea: your creative work belongs to you. We intentionally avoid accounts, analytics, advertising trackers and unnecessary data collection. Most of your data never leaves your device.

BeatFocus is built local-first. Your sessions, tasks, projects, opportunities and notes are stored only in your own browser or device and never leave your machine unless you explicitly export or share them.

What we collect

Nothing on our servers. BeatFocus has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no cloud sync. We cannot see, access or recover the content you create.

Local storage

The app keeps your workspace data in your browser's localStorage so it persists between visits. You can export a backup or erase everything at any time from your profile. Clearing your browser data also removes it.

This website

This website serves all fonts and images from our own server — no external content-delivery networks, web-font services or third-party trackers are used. As a result, simply browsing the site sends no data to third parties. We run no analytics and set no tracking or advertising cookies.

Cookies

We use a single functional cookie, bf-theme, to remember your light/dark preference across pages. It contains no personal data and is not used for tracking or profiling. Your browser may also store this preference in local storage.

Hosting

This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany, on servers located in Germany (EU). IONOS acts as our processor under a data-processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) and processes data only to host and deliver the site.

Server logs

Like any website, our hosting provider may automatically record technical access data (such as IP address, date, browser and requested page) in server log files, to operate and secure the site. This data is not combined with other sources and is deleted after a short period. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Contact

If you email us at support@beatfocus.app, we use your name, email address and message solely to handle and answer your enquiry. The legal basis is the handling of your request and our legitimate interest in responding to it (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR). We keep this correspondence only for as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up, and delete it afterwards unless we are legally required to retain it.

Your rights

Because we do not hold personal data about you on our side, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete — the data on your device is fully under your control. Where we do process personal data (for example an email you send us), you have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection and data portability under the GDPR. To exercise them, contact the controller below.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, www.dsb.gv.at).

Age

BeatFocus is intended for users aged 16 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example when features or legal requirements change. The current version always lives on this page, with the “Last updated” date shown at the top. Continued use of the website or app after a change means you accept the updated policy.

By using BeatFocus you agree to these terms.

The product

BeatFocus is a workspace for music producers. It is currently free and in early access (v0.3.0). Early Access software may contain bugs, incomplete features and compatibility issues, and features may change between versions.

Price & license

BeatFocus is free to use — everything it offers today is free of charge and will stay free. We may add optional paid features in the future, but the current functionality remains free and nothing is concretely planned yet. Your license is personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable. See the License section for details.

Availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue BeatFocus (or parts of it) at any time without prior notice.

Your data & backups

You are responsible for your own content and for keeping backups. BeatFocus stores data locally on your device; we cannot restore it for you. We strongly recommend creating regular backups of your workspace.

Acceptable use

Don't resell, redistribute, sublicense or reverse-engineer the app, and don't use it for unlawful purposes.

No warranty & liability

BeatFocus is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, MRJ Production e.U. is not liable for data loss or damages arising from use of the app. Mandatory statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Changes & governing law

We may update these terms; the current version always lives on this page. Austrian law applies, place of jurisdiction Linz, to the extent legally permissible for consumers.

Content

We prepare the content of this website with care, but assume no liability for its accuracy, completeness or timeliness.

External links

Our site may link to external websites over which we have no control. We accept no responsibility for their content; the respective operators are solely responsible. At the time of linking, no unlawful content was apparent.

Software

BeatFocus is Early Access software. Use is at your own risk. Always keep backups of important data.

You may

Install and use BeatFocus on devices you own, for your own music-production work.
Create unlimited sessions, tasks, projects and opportunities with it.

You may not

Redistribute, resell, sublicense or rent the app.
Remove branding, copyright or other notices.
Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.

Ownership

BeatFocus, its branding and its code remain the property of MRJ Production e.U. This license grants usage rights, not ownership of the software.

“BeatFocus” is a brand of MRJ Production e.U.

Your content

Anything you create with BeatFocus is yours. We claim no rights over your music, sessions or data.

Termination

This license ends automatically if you breach these terms; on termination you must stop using the app.

Open Source & Credits

Fonts

Google Sans Flex by Google — bundled and served from our own server (not loaded from any external CDN). Licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Icons

Interface icons are based on the open-source Lucide icon set (lucide.dev), embedded as inline SVG and served from our own server. Licensed under the ISC License.

JavaScript

The website and app use no third-party JavaScript frameworks or libraries — all interactive code is hand-written vanilla JavaScript, served from our own server. There are no external scripts, CDNs or trackers.

Other assets

Background artwork is used under its respective license. BeatFocus itself is proprietary software — see the License section.
